Watermelon Pleco- L330

Are these guys more shy than the royals? Ive kept a few royals in the past and once they settled in they would come out somewhat. Ive had the L330 for about a month and he hasnt left his cave during the day. Any insight?

Pleco's are nocturnal and will spend most of their time hiding.

I understand that. But they ventured out of their caves here and there. especially when i put wafers in. this guy doesn't budge. not interested in the wafers either.

I didn't specifically look at it. He arrived in good condition. Doesn't appear to be sunken or anything. He is full and looks healthy. He is at least grazing on the wood at night. Should I look for anything specific?

You might try feeding wafers late, right before lights out. It works with my BNs.

maybe i will. just with those wafers after they been sitting in there for a while they completly break apart. didnt think id be able to tell if he ate or not. gonna try some zucc or cucumber tonight.

Okay, leave a piece of lettuce or cucumber overnight and see first thing in the morning if the veggie is gone assuming that's the only fish that will really eat veggies.

I did and he didn't touch it. I came in my office at night to see if he was at least being active and he was.

Do you have driftwood? They need wood in their diet.
