spiral cpf bulbs

Here’s how I did it:

The stainless dog dishes were $2.49 each, I snagged the light sockets from an old fixture I had out in the garage, and the 1 ¼ hole saw to cut the holes was about $11.00

Thanks
The first version of these I just screwed the socket inside the dog dish, but that didn't leave room for a bulb any bigger than 10w, . . .so I had to splurge on the hole saw.

nice.
is there an advantage to placing the bulbs "on the side" as opposed to straight down? which way would they reflect more light into the tank?

If I put the socket on the top of the bowl they wouldn’t fit under the top cover of my hood, so I did the side mount.
If you have room the top mount would probably be better.
