In June (or Aug if a conflict comes up) Bob Fenner author of The Conscientious Marine Aquarist amond other titles, is tentatively coming to AZ to talk to FRAG (the local club). Can't wait.

Wow. Now that is a man I'd like to meet.!

I did too at one time, for at that LFS I was to have the talk of a life time, which was leaset I thought, that turned out to be a bummer. That day was a book sale day and Fenner with Mike Paletta were to be there. My reasons for what excitement I had was that I was to finally have a talk face to face with Fenner on Moray Eels. It was too be more of a comparison on his personal notes and of my own.

This meeting was back around 7.5 years ago. I had prepared a series of things to talk on eels that I wanted to talk with him about. But after that is I told him about myself, introduced myself, on my background in the hobby to do within eels. I was however expecting the chat of a life time, but after I finished a line of discussion, what the subject was that is. Fenner made his excuse to take his leave from me and each time this happened, he done the very same thing.

That after he done this some four or five times, I figured that I was not too have that talk of a life time that I figured on. So not to make my drive out to that LFS a total waste, I had an interesting talk with Mike Paletta on reef systems and such matters to do within a reef system.

No, fenner didn't want to talk too me at that LFS. And I have my thoughts on why, but if another person who is to be as knowledgeable of such a marine species, why didn't I have what I thought was to be a talk of a life time :( For his excuses to walk away was the same each time.

It never made any sense to me whatsoever:headshake2:

Fenner came to Columbia, SC, last February to talk to the local club here (CMAC). I was out of state at the time, so I didn't get to personally meet him or see his talk. But, the local members really enjoyed it, attendance for his visit was much greater than what the club normally sees at a meeting, and his visit provided our club a lot of fundraising opportunities. If nothing else, his name alone generates a vast amount of interest.

He will be in San Antonio, TX April 20th at our local club meeting (MAAST). I am very excited!

Your last speaker was a big name draw too I'd think.

I wish I was there. I am sure that guy gets lots of questions during the meetings. I really wish our mini reef club did fun promotions like that.
