PetCo halting saltwater livestock sales--

It would be a pretty cruel april fool's joke since most PetCos I have been in and heard of shouldn't be selling the fish and birds as is. or any animals for that matter.

I agree. A Petco by where I work totally redesigned their aquarium section, and the first three months the saltwater section was excellent for a huge chain like that...but the past four months it has been horrible, to the point that they shut down the entire SW section, drained it, and started from scratch. It is still not that great. The freshwater is still pretty good, but a place like petco that has a high turnover and hire people that do not have the expertise to care for something as delicate as SW tanks should not attempt to do so. I think this is why PetSmart only sells freshwater livestock.

LOL.....Sorry i cant really comment on this as i dont live in the US.....BUT....has anyone rang them to ask????

I might have to do this. Of course, a nap is in order first. If not, I will drive out to one tomorrow and report back if I find anything out. I need cat food :wall:

Good God, I hope this is true. I worked at petc0 for 3 months, and I can promise you that we had at least a 60% loss of all saltwater fish and inverts. It was awful. They would come in in poor shape, catch ick, and die. All we had to treat them with was malachite green, which would only make matters worse as it would kill off the inverts. So our only choice was freshwater dips. Didn't work so well.

well that just about the most fantastic thing that evil *** corporation could have ever done.

petco sux

hey I just called them and they told me that they are just gonna cut down on the stocks for the animals that you listed. They also said that some stores might completely shut down the whole stocks. just a little heads up.

I realize that not every Petco's marine section is in terrible shape, but overall, this is for the best to both parties, IMHO.
