Small Cories for a 10g tank?

There is a stargate in my aquarium.
Hi all,

I've started looking for tankmates for the famed Rocky T. Betta. I've focused on Corydoras Habrosus (a type of pygmy cory) and actually found some in a store, today, but seeing how small they are in person makes me worried that Rocky might see them as snacks. (The reason I haven't bought shrimp for the tank, too.)

So, I thought Panda Cories might make a good substitute. If you have them, how big have they grown, in your experience? My reference book says two inches, but I thought I'd double-check here. I'd like a cory that stays between 1-2" and handles warmer water well. I'm aiming for a school of 6-8, depending on size.

Suggestions of other bottom-dweller species that might do well with a betta are welcome, too.

I've have a few Panda cories that I've had for about two years now, and the largest one is only 1.25" or so. I do believe they prefer slightly cooler temperatures, but I can be wrong.

6 adult panda cories might be too much for a 10g. Hasbrosus Cories would do fine in a 10g, but with a betta might be a bad idea. I had a 5g with some hasbrosus cories and a betta. The first thing the betta did upon arriving in the tank was to chase the cories all over the tank.

That's what I'm afraid of. The habrosus are about 1/3rd his size....
