HI folks, new here just arrived today.
Seems I have some questions you folks might be able to help with.
We bought our current home seven years ago. It had a goldfish pond in the back full of fish. It's about a 15' X 8' pond about 18" deep. For seven years I've been fighting this thing, green water, amazingly enough the fish are still alive. A few years ago hurrcane Rita took out the pump house and the filter system, the shade trees and many other things around the yard. The filter system never worked right so it was a blessing. The water wheel stayed in tack (that thing must have been spinning fast with the winds we had)
Any way, it's taken almost three years to get thoing back up to par. I rebuilt the filter system with a debri pump located at the bottom of the pond. It pumps up through a 55 gallon plastic drum that I've put lava rocks in. The lava rocks are in three open weave nylon bags supported above the bottom of the barrel, about eight inches.
Water flows in to the bottom and out the top. So far it seem to be working as I have had to drain and clean it twice in the last few days.
What else can I do to help clear the water?
