Hello, Can you tell me if I'm on track? My 75gal. tank has been running for about a year now(FRESHWATER) with a wet/dry & a canister....Right.....14 days ago I drained it 50% & removed the rocks. I then added 2inches of marine sand & the salt, ALSO ADDED a Emperor 400(3 filters total now) & a protein skimmer..I always had a UV Light with the wet/dry, you see. I wondering 'cause I checked my water for the first time today & It's reading for the ammonia:0.50 , nitrite:5.0 & nitrate 40.......IS THIS NORMAL?????? Dee

ur going to have to completely cycle ur tank all over again. the nitrifying bacteria for fresh and saltwater are different. how are u cycling ur tank?

If going reef tank, get rid of the wet/dry (bioballs) and the Emperor. For saltwater, a good protein skimmer will be your best friend. I'm also a personal believer in UV sterilizers as well, I will never run another tank without one.

I didn't know that, I think I'm in TROUBLE,,,,,,,,,,,,3 three-striped damsels, 1 yellow tang,1 blue damsel & 1 clownfish Dee

yes, your ammonia is going to probably get a lot higher. Anyway you can return the fish to the store or to someone who has a temporary home for them while you cycle your tank?

off topic, but I love the Conspic avi.

the bio balls tend to be a nitrate factory - which is a bad thing. Same with bio wheels.
