Blood Parrots?

Ive never had a parrot before, how do they do behaviou wise with:
African Cichlids?
Large Centril American Cichlids?
Large Cyprinids?

Are they agressive? Do they tend to get picked on by other agressive fish? Looking for an education here!
 
Well....they themselves are rather peaceful.....they are a hybrid though.
 
Depends on the individual fish. Parrots are a cross from CA/SA cichlids therefore they should not be mixed with Africans whose temperament is far different from the parrots'. The tank should have adequate space if you wish to keep the parrots with the CA/SA cichlids.

P.S. I would never buy this fish if I were you considering I do not condone hybrids at all.:)

Well, weather you condone hybrids or not, they are out there, and it isnt their fault they are hybrids, Id rather see em bought up by people who will take care of them rather than be mis treated in a petsmart or by some dumb parent who buys em for a 6 year old etc etc, you know?
 
I also am of the mind not to support the purchase of parrots.

With that being said, I wouldn't recommend keeping them with Africans of any type.

As for keeping them with SA/CA, that is a bit to generic for a definitive answer. As you know there are many different ones, that cover a wide range of personality and aggressiveness.

Many folks are keeping them with a variety of different fish and some are having quite a bit of luck with it. I just don't see it in my future.
 
i had three..........loved them.....very beautiful color on them.....i caught them at petco for 5.99 ea and bought the 3 they had.....now they are 27.99 ea.....taslk about mark up.....

i had to give mine up thou and my LFS took them in and gave me $10 ea store credit for them.....

I just dont understand all the hate some people have for hybrids..............

Sg, we never said we hate hybrids.;) Our point is by purchasing these fish, the demand for these fish remains and while this kind of demand remains consistent, there is no way we can put a complete halt on it at all. Hybrids are just not right and can decimate purer strains if we continue supporting such trend.

This is only my opinion, of course.
