I have 17 fish, that I am moving to my new 75 gallon tank.

4 Ahli
4 Johanni
2 Jacobfriebergei
1 albino peacock
2 yellow lab
2 labeotropheus Trawavasae
2 Synodontis Cats

I was thinking about getting a Dragon Goby too, if it is compatible. Thoughts?

Dragon goby as in violet goby, Gobioides brousonnetti? These are brackish fish, so...not compatible.

Everywhere I read, they are both, like a molly.

Live Aquaria.com keeps them in freshwater.

Nearly everyone claims brackish fish will do just fine in FW, but that's usually not the case in the long run. They're brackish to full SW in their natural environment.

:iagree:

ok, then maybe you can help me think this out. I would like a fish like a ghost knife, or brichir, or dragon goby, is there anything like this, that I can put with my cichlids?

bichir would probably work. BGK would eventually get too big for a 75.

Everyone is right, the Violet Goby is BW. Yes...they CAN live in FW, they just will not live as long or as healthy as one kept in BW. The LFS keep theirs in FW yes, and they do start out in FW, but they need BW for a full life...because as they grow in the wild they move to BW or SW areas to live out their life. I had one before and they are fascinating fish.

Here is a link about a senegal birchr, they are really cool looking guys too, have been considering getting one myself...just not sure where he would go.

I agree but BGK's are not indeed appropriate for mix with those cichlids. It has no means of defending itself. A bichir though will work provided it doesn't get harassed by those fish. Synos shouldn't be a problem with it. I've kept mine with Synodontis ocellifer and Synodontis eupterus.

I can think of better places for bichir info. Some info there is a lil off-Anne
