Sorry another question. I have not been able to get a 0ppm amonia level or a good nitrite level since I put the 3 corydoras in the hospital tank?
Amonia has been staying at 1 and the nitrite at .50. I change the water each day and still no change. I feel like I am just stressing them out more. The 1 cory still has the white on its upper mouth/face (sorry can't get a clear picture). The 2nd has fin loss. The 3rd seems fine except for being very unactive. I have been treating with Fungus Clear tank buddies but with all the water changes ect. I'm not getting any further along.
Should I start using Melafix or Pimafix. (They seem to come up alot on the Threads) Would it be unsafe to move the Cory that seems fine back to the original tank? This is so confusing. Please help. Also is the Cory with the face problems a lost cause as it has been almost 14 days.:help:

Sure, use mela and pimafix, but do not dose the regular full amount. about 3/4 and remove carbon. What I would do is use some of the main tank's polyster bag, and squeeze most of it's content to ur hospital tank. it's filled with what you need to cycle ur hospital tank.

I have the filter with a foam sponge. If I take that out and squeeze it in the hospital tank will that be enough? Or should I try and cut the sponge to fit the small hospital tank and put a new foam piece in the old tank.

What are those readings on your tap water? I would just use prime and do water changes for the QT.

How do I test the tap water? Is it the same as when I test the tank. Sorry if this is a silly question.

Yes, you test it the same way. Not silly if you've never done it before:)

Thanks Lady G. I'm off to test! Will be back with the results

Many folks do not realize that their tap can contain bad elements. Glad to have you here and that you can learn. Soon, you will be helping so many others with similar issues.

I sure do hope one day I will help someone. Here are my readings for the tap water. Nitrate 3.0, nitrite 0ppm, Amonia 0ppm, and PH is 7.2 Could this be the problem. The first 3 seem okay. My PH in the tanks is always High. I have tried PH 7.0 but it seems still to be high.

^sounds like great tap water to me. Your pH is perfect don't mess with it.

I have a little bit of foam in my main tank that I have tucked behind the intake/outlet of my canister filters. It's almost completely invisible. When I need my QT tank I just grab foam an toss it in. After two weeks in the QT tank I take it out and disinfect it in a 10% bleach solution for 30 minutes. Then after a very thorough rinsing, back behind the tubes it goes. It's hidden so well that my wife doesn't even know that it is in there.

If I were you I would take the filter on your main tank and squeeze it into you hospital tank. This will help get your ammonia and nitrites under control.
