Was wondering, I know that they have fluorescent lighting hoods but are there fluorescent bulbs that fit aquarium hoods that are using incandescent bulbs??I am talking about the screw on type...I want fluorescent lighting but do not want to buy a new hood...

If you got plants, as high as you can fit in there. I have an Eclipse 5 hex, but so far I've only been able to fit a 10w in there, If I could just fit a 23w, I'd be in business.
Get one designed specifically for aquariums.I tried the screw in sold for home usage and they have way to much yellow. wal-mart sells them in the fish isle for 5 bucks.
As long as you get daylight balanced CFL bulbs, they work really nicely. The stock incandescent hood for a 10g usually will fit 2 15w bulbs no problem, you can fit the 20w bulbs in if you move the reflector panels flush with the hood.
My plants don't mind. I believe intensity is more important than color. Plus I live in a city without a sprawl mart.

The MarineLand literature, Page 9, indicates that their 5G Hex is sold with a 15W incandescent light. Mine came with a 10W fluorescent bulb.
Their literature indicates that the fixture will support a 25W bulb and I have ordered six of these from WalMart which should fit but just by a hair.
