The useless junk they try to sell you

Nice list, Khom.:D I still remember the iPond.:perv: I don't think they sell those anymore because of the outrage expressed last time it hit the shelves. Hmmm...

If you're keeping very messy fish, you are not likely to keep very many of them in one tank and would wisely be doing lots of water changes. So the wet dry is still unnecessary in my opinion.

Yeah.... regarding bettas, lemme see here.

Betta tanks (any tank that is waaaaay too small, I've seen some for sale that barely fit the fish)
Betta water
Betta conditioner
Betta pellets (as if the betta won't survive on flake food and other assorted stuff)

The list goes on.

BTW Echo, Filtration IMO is a matter of choice, if'n ya like W/D filters, good for you. Having never used one, I can't comment. I can comment on the fact that I really REALLY dislike HOB filters. Not enough media if you ask me. Canister filters, no matter how big the tank is, is the way to go, DIY or store bought.

Yes, Bettas will eat flakes but I find it much easier for customers to feed appropriate amounts with pellets. If I tell them to feed 3 or 4 pellets a day I know (if they are following my advice) that they will not be over feeding. If I tell them to feed just a tiny pinch of flake who is to say that their tiny pinch is the same as mine. I recommend pellets for goldfish as well even though they will take flakes readily also. Same with Cichlids. It is much easier to monitor how much you are feeding or what they are eating.

Stress coat is actually a good thing to have. My Dwarf Gourami had a scrape at the top of his head that looked red and raw on tuesday. I added some stress coat to the water that night, and the next day, the redness was gone. And now, this morning, his head had healed and scales had covered the rawness.

I don't use either Stress Coat or Salt, for scrapes and scratches I just keep the water clean with daily WC's and the fish do the rest.
