im one of those dudes that much prefers tanks filled to the top. looks better and filters are less noisey.

my question is that i know they need a few inches of space to lay eggs, but are they one of those snails that must have air access or die from suffrocation?

will they die from being egg bound if they cant release the eggs?

i dont care about breeding i just want them to live

They do not need space above the tank to breath. If they do not have access to lay their eggs, they will do their best to escape in order to lay them. Typically as much space under the lid as the diameter of their shell is enough. Often they will lay eggs behind the lips of HOB filters, under lights, etc, if there is not room on the glass. You do not have to have your water dropped a copious amount. They can die from being eggbound.

thanks, luv u bye

to name just a few lol.

One of my Blue snails ventured out of the tank and I'm assuming it was looking for a place to lay eggs. Even with the top on the tank, it found the opening where a heater would normally be placed. If one does make it out of the tank, don't assume it is dead. The snail landed on the carpet, and was just fine when placed back in the tank. I taped some cardboard over that opening though.

better to cover any opening rather than very for the inevertable to happen.
