Is this crab safe? (pics)

if you get one of those plastic breader nets you can keep him in there for a while

I have a similar one SOMEWHERE in my tank. I've only ever seen him once, while moving LR around.. He was too quick to grab, and I haven't seen him since. I have NO IDEA where he came from, but he's obviously not hurting anything...

My crab (Frank) lives in a small plastic kids tank 2 gallons ish, i change 100% of the water for old DT tank water every water change and buy new or put in old little bits of live rock from DT now and again.
Hes been in there for over a year sitting on his own shelf in the kitchen with no lights no filtre or form of water movment and hes doing fine, hes even been to the kids school twice for show and tell lived with a hemit i was unsure about till that went in the DT.
Costs nothing.

im sorry but i didnt understand any of that last part. hed probably break out of a breeder net

Hes happy in his own little environment.
Hes been to the kids school twice in his little tank (with water)
And when i brought six small hermit crabs one of them was not what i had asked for nor could i identify it straight away so i put him in with Frank and the hermit survived, meaning Frank must be happy and getting enough food, even though i don't feed him at all.

we found three of those guys in a 75 gallon reef at work that we were taking down. But they were all fed to a peacock mantis :D

I hope you find out what it is....looks like one I found in a new live rock I picked up yesterday...LOTS of hitch-hikers in this one. It also had a small redish looking crab, stuck down in a hole, but I don't think he's alive. The bigger one that looks like yours looked like he was feeding on the reddish one earlier, using one of the legs like an ear of corn...maybe he was eating algae off it....I dunno. Also noticed a ton of tiny starfish, blue-ish in color, and one polyp, can't tell what it is yet, but it has tentacles and is a light brown in color. This rock came out of the LFS's display tank, and was sitting in their coral tank waiting for me to find and buy it. No telling what could be on it, but my goby absolutely loves it!
