well i did my strip yesterday and the nitrites were 0 and nitrates were 0. my new liquid test kits come in today. so i can give you a better understanding

If these are new corys and they were shipped in this could be the cause of the problem. When corys get scared they emit a chemical. In the wild it will dissapate fairly fast. However, in a bag it can quickly become toxic and the symptoms prior to death are red blotches. The fish may arrive looking fine but will soon show red blotching and then begin to die. The problem is magnified when there are several fish in the same bag.

More experienced fish shippers use a trick to help prevent this. The corys are placed in a bucket of clean water and then you give the bucket a kick to startle the fish. This is repeated at about 15 minute intervals so it is done several times. The fish release the chemical. The the fish are then netted and bagged in new clean water fir shipping.

whoa thats smart but kinda mean at the same time...yeah my cories seem to get that red streak when i move rocks around but then they go away after my water change
