Coral ID and how to care

Goniopora or flowerpot coral :), hard to keep for long periods of time. Mine seems to like medium flow and med to high light, died off a bit but seems to be growing back :)

Goniopora's are among the most difficult LPS corals to keep due to difficulties with their feeding requirements (many perish within the first year, though there are hobbyists who do have success with this type of coral).

Was that a photo of it at the LFS or in your tank?

Photo was taken at LFS. Actualy I would like to keep one. So now I think maybe not.....???

I would not recommend Goniopora to most reefkeepers. The success rate in captivity remains too low for my liking. Yes, they are nice and I would definitely like to have one, but I won't buy one because of how frequently they die in people's tanks.

The only specimen I had luck with was a red one. I had it for a while and later ended up bringing it to the LFS I worked at. Eric Borneman dropped by and bought it, so he has it now and it is supposedly doing just as well.
