I'm loosing my tank guys!!!!!!!!

i think, its going to be an ongoing thing, ..you obviously don't want your temps to fluctuate that much, ..but it will obviously lower itself in the eves, ..your gonna have to play with it to see what works, ..

I also want to make a suggestion for your ice bags, ..take some tank water, and fill a few bags, and freeze those, ( that way, anything in your water, is not going into your tank) I know its not alot of water, but I did this, and it was one less worry, ..( that little can affect alot sometimes, ..) that way, you have extra bags available for tom to!

Do you have any water bottles that you can put water in and freeze? This would make worrying about water from the bags of ice getting into your tank a non issue :)

Oh, good idea, I'll put some tank water in stuff and freeze it!!!!

Yes, actually I do....even better, I can put the tank water in there and freeze it!!!

Don't bother with tank water in the bottles, just put cold water in there and toss it in the freezer to freeze. It'll freeze faster that way :)
 
I'm sorry, G, You must feel awful. :cry: I've been afraid of that same thing happening when the hot weather finally hits here.

The water bottle suggestion is a good one. I took some of the water removed during a water change and froze that in a couple of drinking bottles for emergencies. :idea:

Have a virtual beer or chocolate chip cookie on me. Your choice. :)
 
Guys, I just thought of I have a powerhead that I was going to add to my 150g, should I put that in there for more water movement??? Wouldn't that help? A guy over at MFK PMed me about that and he said maybe put the ice in front of that.

And that is because the significantly higher presence of ions that conduct energy (heat or electricity).

I am sorry for your losses. It sucks to lose everything at once, especially when you have had it a while or become attached. Trust me, I know. I lost 10+ year old corals, etc. when mine went under. Don't lose hope, though. Just get through this and keep forging ahead.

Interestingly enough, an air conditioning unit went out on us at the shop a week ago and we lost over $1700 worth of stock.
 
That sucks LG.

Here I was contemplating a SW tank even had bid on one a few months back. The AC sucks in my house. To much sun not enough shade so the house is baking all day. Central air running all day and it still hits 85 in here,been 100 degrees everyday for the past week outside. FW tanks are staying around 80 though so all is good.

You have a backup plan for the LR,any rubble anywhere you could put in a sump in case the big pieces die?
Hate to see you lose the inverts too.
