OK, that was amusing. I did a water change on the betta palace this morning to remove meds and, as I was adding the new water, the shrimp (Groucho, Harpo, Chico, and Zeppo) suddenly started dashing all over the tank, as if they were NASCAR shrimp! Along the walls, through the water, over/in/under the plants, you'd have thought someone had fired a starter's pistol.
:grinyes:
They settled down after a few minutes, but, I'm curious. Why did this happen? My guess is that the new water stirred up all sort of food bits for them, and they were chasing it. The other possibility I thought of is that the currents caused by adding the water somehow frightened or excited them. But I don't think they were frightened, since I saw them trying to eat.
Any speculations?
