My 105g Reef Tank After Recovery.....

Here my reef 105g reef tank after recover from many problem before. Now mine water parem. as what I target :

Calcium - 400 - 420 ppm
KH - 10-11 ppm
No2 - 0ppm
No3 - < 20ppm
PO4 never test (I think PO4 little bit high because I'm facing a problem with brown algae)

Anyone who have a solution to PO4, please welcome. For your information I don't have a refugium in my filter.

Age of the tank now nearly 2 yrs.....

I just using 2x150w (10,000k) MH and 2x30w blue bulb for lighting.( can I keep acropora under this lighting specification?)

Looks like it has recovered nicely. Get that nitrate closer to 0. Adding pure, buffered vitamin c will get it down to 0 & inprove the health, growth & color of your corals. Let me know if you want more info on that.

Yes...please. I need more info on that exspeacially product brand (couse i need to check with LFS whether they have or not).

Since you don't have a sump, I'd start by dissolving 1/4 tsp into some RO water & pour into your tank. Raise that to 1/2 tsp in 3 days, 3/4 tsp in 3 more days & then up to 1 tsp after 3 more. Stay at that for a few weeks & see the difference.
 
You can actually achieve the same effect with most organic carbon sources, like sugar, vinegar, and even ethanol (i.e. booze)--if that is what you are looking for. The vitamin C is just converted to another derivative after quickly reacting in seawater, but the others are a cheaper way of doing the same (except for ethanol). I am not aware of a source that lasts long enough to be stable in seawater... Just go slowly with all of it or you can cause more problems than you solve, in any case.

BTW, tank looks quite good, azfarid :).

Actually VC dose MUCH more than either of the other 2 & cannot be overdosed. It helps build collagen (which is what all our corals are made of), in addition to lowering nitrate.
 
Almost all animals have high levels of collagen. I suppose my question about the use of vitamin C in the water column is manyfold. One would be the timeframe of stability of vitamin C and its useful properties in seawater. Another would be the corals' ability to absorb it (it is water-soluble, not lipid soluble and it is a very large molecule). I would think it is unlikely that it is absorbed directly, but rather consumed via foodstuffs, where it would be more immediately and usefully available. I have dosed it heavily directly in the water in the past (about 10 years ago) and never noticed a difference, other than some algal reduction.

If it is to build collagen or even just supplement VC, then I don't see why a good feeding of higher vitamin C and high-protein foods (like many copepods and such) wouldn't achieve the same or better effect and still be cheaper. I guess I am just skeptical about the benefits of direct addition, nor have I seen anything concrete to support it. Do you have anywhere that I can look for official references on direct addition, as well as anecdotal reports? I feel the same way about many, if not all, of the amino acid supplements that sell for outrageous amounts.
 
I have beeen doing a study on this for over 6 months. If you have the time, there is close to 100 pages on dosing with VC in the zoanthid forum at RC.

Thanks, I'll take a look at it. It's not that I doubt your experiences with it, rather, it is just that I am skeptical about adding anything to my tank without knowing exactly what is going on with it.
