Has anyone had problems with knots forming in the tubes on their canister filter? If so, how do you deal with this problem? I've had my Reyna for three months and it was running fine at the last filter change a couple of weeks ago. Tonight I laid down on my couch and noticed there was no water circulation on the surface above the outlet tube. I checked it and found a knot where the inlet tube hooks into the canister. I moved things around and after a lot of frustration finally got it flowing again. I'm worried though about another knot forming. It frustrates me that something like that can even happen with such an expensive machine.

more info please. . . is the tubing knotting up or is something clogging it inside? i have a Rena canister but i can't quite *get* what you're saying. . . .

If what you are talking about is that the hose is kinking, like bent to the point it piches off the flow, then it could be due to the position of the hose, orientation of the canister or possibly that the hose itself is too long or short for your installation? Especially I'd consider if your hose is too long that the weight of it when full of water may cause it to sag and lead to the kinking. Perhaps you could snap a pic of your installation.

:iagree:

A knot in a RENA hose does not just happen.

that was my first thought when i started to read the post. but then i got confused.

if they are kinking up use a zip tie about 2 inches above where the hoses meet the filter and that will stop it.

The best way is to trim the hoses so they stay completely straight(because the rena hose is a little expandable you can trim it a little shorter).

In case that you don't want to trim your hoses, you can buy strong wooden sticks( they sell very good strong very "THIN" sticks in the home improvement stores, in the molding section) and with some cable ties you can make your really straight resistant to knots.

Cables ties..

Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. The hoses are a bit too long. Maybe I'll try cutting them. My biggest concern is that it will happen again and I won't notice right away.

they just need to be cut, i had the same problems on my rena hoses

the weight of the water makes the hoses droop down and create a knot in the hose, once you cut em it wont happen again... make sure you cut the knot off because that area of the hose is weak now and could possibly knot again if you don't remove it
