Koralia Magnum

This is some serious butt kicking flow at a low wattage! I think it's amphrion that says you can never have too much flow, but I may be wrong...

You can never have too much good, well-dispersed, high volume flow :D. I did see those a while back, but honestly, I'm saving myself for the new Tunze Stream 2s. 8,000 gph @ 64 watts and only the size of the current Tunze nanostream. I can handle that :headbang2:.

Here's a link.

Edit: Also check out their new Nano Wavebox--finally a wavebox that won't overwhelm small to medium sized tanks.

amphiprion, what is the cost of that unit? ( tunze )

Not sure what the projected price will be. Your best bet is to contact Roger Vitko at Tunze USA (or check the Tunze forum on RC) and see what they believe the cost will be when they actually come out.

I just saw that it is going to be 380 dollars and will be out December 2008 -- turn your attention to the bottom of the picture.

Sounds pretty enticing. Amp, I have a 72 gallon and I want to get the wavebox nano...would that be enough movement or would I need additional pumps such as a couple koralias or would I be better advised to just get the koralia wavemaker? From what I have heard, the wavebox just moves water back and forth whereas the pumps will pick up debris and move aid the mechanical filtration by pushing it into the overflow. The good thing about the wavebox is that it seems like there are zero deadspots and the flow is pretty even throughout the tank. What do you think?

Oh, I knew the projected price on the nano wavebox, but I thought that xsdbs was referring to the powerheads.

Yes, you will need flow in addition to the wavebox. The wavebox only simulates one type of flow, so linear movement is still necessary. So don't get rid of any of your powerheads, yet ;).

I don't have any that's why I ask haha. I have been waiting until I move which is soon to get powerheads because that is when I will be starting to get corals as well. Good thing it has taken this long i guess...new products on the horizon. Would the koralia wavemaker in theory do the job of both regular powerheads and the wavebox combined?

No. While the wavemaking function is nice (can get the same function with the Tunzes, and the multicontroller is less expensive), the wavebox is a whole other beast. It creates a true surge unlike any set of powerheads can make. Look for some videos to see what I'm talking about.

I have seen videos of it and it seems really cool, but at the same time I have never owned powerheads so that is why I ask. So what set up would you recommend for my tank? A wavebox nano and just a couple smaller powerheads like the tunze nanos without a controller?
