Maybe this belongs in another section, I'm not sure.

I recently bought some species of Hornwort (at least that's what the tag said, it could very well be something else) at a LFS for my tanks. I was originally worried that it wouldn't have the proper environment to survive long term, but it seems to be thriving... too much so. I'm starting to little pieces of this plant attaching itself to my tank walls and growing larger. I've been emptying out my tanks and scrubbing down the walls to get rid of the new additions, but I was hoping there was something else I could do to control the growth. Is there something maybe that I could add to the water (that wouldn't harm my fish, crayfish and shrimp) or maybe there's a species of fish/shrimp/snail/etc that would eat the lil' plants? If there isn't anything, that's okay... it's not a horrible thing, just a bit annoying. At least my plants seem to be growing very well :)

Hornwort is a very hardy plant for some ppl, not myself..lol. It makes me wonder if you indeed have hornwort because of the way you speak of it propagating. Do you have a picture?

Yea, I really have no idea how any of these plants are grow, spread, etc... I buy them so that my shrimp and young crays have places to hide and plant matter to eat while they grow. I generally rotate between species as one gets eaten away, this time I picked up this plant and it had a scientific name (I don't remember unfortunately) and then it said "hornwort" after it on the tag.

It's not usually so bunched up, it grows from the bottom of the tank up in long stalks. But I'm moving right now so I've begun breaking down my tanks and bagging everything up, so it's a little bunched up in that container.

Try selling it or trading it in at an LFS.

Nah, I want the plant because it's a great hide and source of food for my shrimp and crays (they seem to enjoy this plant more than the priors that I've purchased). I just want a way to slow down it's growth/spreading, if at all possible.

Hornwort grows fast, which is nice in my opinion. Just toss or sell what you don't want. My shrimp love it, I doubt they would have reproduced so fast without it.
