40g breeder question

irishspy

There is a stargate in my aquarium.
Hi all,

If all goes well, later this month I'll be buying a 40g breeder. Yay!

(Of course, I may wait to see if Petco has a sale. Greed is good...)

My question is about putting a glass lid over the tank. Should I look for a tank with a center brace to support the lid? I notice All-Glass makes it's breeder without a brace, and they sell a lid for that size, too, so I assume it's safe, but I thought I'd check here for other opinions. :)

I prefer the breeders without the brace.

It's fine. It is pretty well made tank. A 40 gallon tank is 12" shorter then the 55 gallon that has a center brace, but it is wider.

I prefer the breeders without the brace.

So do I. I just wanted to double check since I've never had a tank that large.

Just wait I see a larger Tank in your future :grinyes: its inevitable. None of us can fight it :wall:

Oh, I'm sure you're right. In fact, I know I'm doomed. :grinyes:

I have a 40 breeder AGA planted tank up and running, the one with no brace. I just bought a glass top for it...the one with the plastic hinge in the middle, and it is perfect. I wouldn't worry about not having the center brace.
