Background

Thanks for the replies. I did not realize that those backgrounds were a solid blue or black on the back. I will look into those.

I don't want to paint it because it's permanent and it's my new tank. lol.

Also, I don't think plants will work with a Dempsey, he digs up his plastic plants now.

I use the solid vinyl backgrounds by the foot you can find at any pet store. If you have fish that jump around the surface cardboard or construction paper could get wet and possibly fall apart. We should have backgrounds with MFK and AC Logos for sale...Just a thought :grinyes:

I use some wonderful stuff called 'Seaview'. It's a liquid that gets applied to the background before adhering to the glass. It's not a glue, more like a mineral oil or something, and the background can be removed and reapplied as often as you want. Here is the link for info. Click on the demonstration video to see how it works. It's all I will ever use

Hey Donna, can this stuff be applied once the tank is vertical or do you have to have the tank horizontal to apply?

I would say paint it. I'm a noob and I took my 37g tank and just used tape and newspaper to mask off the tank. I had a bad spot from wind when I did it, so I scraped the area, came off really easy and repainted. You couldn't tell I did a touch up. I found it much easier than cutting and trimming and mounting the films.
