Upgrading my lighting...

Got the lights hooked up and running. WOW! What a difference! The fish look nicer under the new lights too.

Do you think this will help my coralline algae grow a little better? Also, should I watch out for a (bad) algae bloom due to the higher intensity?

Excellent! Yeah, it should help with coralline growth. Mine has taken about 6 months to start looking nice. You may go through a bloom, I certainly did. I added a CUC shortly after and the turbo snails gobbled it up pretty quickly.

Yeah, I have a big hermit crab thats pretty good at cleaning off live rock, and two smaller ones I caught in Myrtle Beach that help out too. Only problem is, none of em will go where the glass anemones have a little colony (got one rock that is full of them  ).

I would keep an eye out for algal blooms. Depending upon your water quality, you may or may not have an issue. The lower your nutrient levels are, the less you will likely see. This is one reason I like to have a good protein skimmer, phosphate remover, and/or a refugium to help lower these things ahead of time.

Since I don't have that equipment, wouldnt more regular water changes help? Like 10-20%, once a week.

definately look into a skimmer in the near future...
and phosphate reactors really arent expensive... i paid around 40.00 for mine (two little fishies brand) and the pump to run it was only $7 ..so definately consider it...
