Hi:i am new to this sight,i have a 75 gallon tank running 1 marineland c-220 and 1 marineland c-360 canister filters turning the tank 580gph.like i said i have 1 oscar,2 jack dempsy,and a breeding pair of albino bristlenose pleco's.i want to know if i need to get rid of the pleco's?have read different views on this and i only have about 9months of experience in aquatics.the oscar and jack dempsy's are juvi's still,the pleco's will only grow to about 4 1/5 to 5" (so i researched before i bought them)the reason i have them is because they were in a 38gallon tank but i had to get rid of the tank.thanks for any input.oh and i do not feed the oscar live fish he does not seem agressive at the moment but i know he is not mature yet also.he is about 4 1/2" long right now.he has been with the pleco's sence he was 2".thanks for any input on this matter
 
plecos are really hardy just pay attention to them as your fins get bigger but as for the jacks if they are a pair when they breed there will be havoc lots of hide outs just for them will aid in their defense
 
If you have a breeding pair of Jack Dempseys you will have problems with them. I would move the plecos they will stay too small and will not get the proper nutrition with large hungry cichlids. I wouldn't do more than one Oscar and one JD in a 75g, really no more than the Oscar or two JD's but with a good maintnance routine you should be able to swing it.

BN's are primarily vegetarians...they will scavenge on the bottom for food the others may miss. but they prefer algae and veggies(oscars may fight with them for that)

they do remain relatively small..male BN's may reach 6"

I am not sure a 75 will host 2 JD's and an Oscar. three relatively large fish in a 75??might be tight especially if the JD's are a mating pair.
 
Although Oscars are omnivores they need a lot of meaty foods and protien in their diet. A full grown BN will easily fit in a full grown Oscars mouth...The Bn may work for a while but I would suggest if you try iy get full grown BN plecos to start.
 
i do not plan on keeping them in the 75 for long,after the first of the year i plan on getting a 150,i think that should be big enough for the 3 of them.

A 150g will house them well. I would suggest a 150g long tank for cichlids of that size.
