Tetra Easy Balance?

:| Stupid marketing plans.
Yeah the only thing is there is not a ton of room on the bottom, it being a hex...

I'm going to look for a sponge filter or make one myself. No more vacuuming! Yayy!

You should still vacuum the substrate regularly. With that small of a tank it shouldn't take much. There are some threads on DIY vacs I believe.

Me + Sand = Sand floating around the tank. ;)
Well I'm goign to look for a cheap small filter anyways.

Sand + UGF = BIG MISTAKE

Haha I know.
Only if I got a HOB filter or something.
I can imagine a giant whirlpool of sand engulfing my poor betta lol.

Pool filter sand is heavy and will not get sucked up easily. I stir mine weekly to keep it nice and off white, but a stir monthly or bi-weekly would keep gas bubbles from harming tank inhabitants.

I bought some of the Easy Balance to try in our 100-gallon aquarium. We had to do a water change after just a couple weeks. It is not something I will use again.
