I have a 40 gallon breeder tank with a 192 watt PC light on it. The only thing I've had besides live rock is a bubble tip anemone who found its way to my powerhead. But if I don't even have corals or anemones, then is there even a point to having a PC light? Does it make more coraline algae grow or anything else? Its been setup with the PC for over a year and so far nothing but purple coraline has grown.

I was thinking about trading my 55 gal long freshwater with the 40 salt and have the PC lights for the FW instead. I also wanted to have a little larger salt tank. Is this a good trade?

Without corals or light needy inverts, the only benefit the lighting will be is to help growing coralline and your viewing pleasure...
