What's Your Most Frustrating Tank Experience?

Boarding issues...complications and complications. I don't want to board anymore, I want to get my own place and take my tanks back already.
I wish it was easier to raise money for a house. I was going to quit and re-home every fish I had...Problem is nobody wanted them.
If someone had taken my catfish when I first moved away, they'd be long gone. Now it's been so long and I've had so many hardships I've endured due to boarding, that I want to stick it out and keep them.

Next most frustrating thing, breeding bettas and have them refuse to breed or kill their mate. Which is why breeding bettas will probably be a one shot deal for me. I don't have the patience for them anymore...I just wanna scream...You're conditioned, here's a fine tank for spawning...DO IT ALREADY!...stop with the attacking each other. Do I have to take each betta up in my hands and shake them for the message to sink in?...Oh wait, they probably won't spawn then and be injured.

Followed closely by the frustration of breeding catfish. Except the catfish just refuse to spawn, they don't try and kill each other over it. Happy child-free catfish.

Losing my beloved betta overnight to a freaky aggressive case of finrot despite perfect water conditions (0-0-5) and apparent good health the night before... It makes me sick to my stomach knowing there are people out there that keep these wonderful guys in unchanged vase water for months without visible health issues and mine, with the best care I knew to provide, is gone so soon...

anyways

most fustrating moment

I go away on vacation for 2 weeks and leave a 4 page tutorial on how to take care of my 55 planted tank to my now ex girlfriend (although I wanted to kill her then thats not why we broke up)..I come back and find new fish and all 3 pounds of my java moss gone and my large piece of driftwood that was covered in java fern in the driveway with no java fern on it! The convo went like this...

ME: Why in gods green earth is my driftwood outside?
EX: OH I cleaned it out danny it there was this green plant growing all over it and you couldnt see it so I threw that plant out and scrubbed the wood with bleach to get it nice and clean for you
ME: you did what?
EX: Oh and that big stringy green thing I threw that out too I didn't like it
ME: babe please tell me this is a joke
EX: No? why would I be joking danny I cleaned your tank for you
ME: **** *** ***! *** **** **** **** **! ******* *****! **** *** *** ***!
EX: FINE I'LL NEVER TOUCH YOUR TANKS AGAIN!
ME: ****! ***! ***! ********! ****! ******!

by the way the fish she added was

3 pool comets
3 male bettas (yes MALE)
4 "suckerfish" aka common plecos "to take care of my alge problem"

SO now before I go on vacation I have someone shadow me to make sure My tank doesn't go to hell

Deeseven, I would have been just as angry as you were if that happened to me.

As for me, I haven't had a majorly frustrating thing happen yet, but I have had something terrible happen to me just yesterday.

On Wednesday, I went to a city outside of mine that has a Home Depot so I bought some eggcrate to fit over my tank so I could just lay down my lights without them falling in. (My tank is a unique shape so I couldn't find a hood for it) But then we went to do some other stuff in the city and ended up coming back at around 9:00PM. I cut out my custom covering for the tank, but didn't install it because I was too tired, so I said I'll do it tommorrow after I got home from school.

The next morning, I went to school and came back at about 2:30 PM, which is when I saw her. My Bamboo Shrimp I've had for a long time that I had raised from a shrimp the size of a regular ghost shrimp was on the floor of my room 2 feet away from my tank, dried out and dead. I guess she must have been spooked while swimming around, jumped out of the water and landed on my carpet to suffocate.

And the irony of it is, I had prepared my tank in the morning to put in the covering of eggcrate when I got back. And if I had put it on in the morning, my Bamboo Shrimp would have hit the mesh of the eggcrate and plopped back in the water. I felt really terrible about that.

Well, in any case I put it on that evening, to prevent that same thing from happening again.

well up until recently last month i have never had any issues with tanks and wham in two weeks i get this

my 70g baby grow out tank i got some pictus catfish from a tank i bought so i thought they would be ok in this tank so i put them in i also got some other stuff with some of the tanks i bought so i redid the tank with some of the decor an stuff well i found out that catfish will get themselves in places where at times they cant get out and i found also that even though fake plants may be used in tanks it dont mean they are tank safe so i come down my babies are swimmin funny i begin to lok over the tank an find a decomposing catfish which makes me tear this tank apart an so begins the fight to fix it but the nitrates when i tested it that week were way off the chart and over the next week i watch as my fish die one by one even the ones i moved to some of my other tanks dont recover it seems that a dead fish in the tank for a few days is a death sentance so i lose every one of my baby fish i been raising from less than 1 inch in length and worse yet the supposed fake plants that i was given are actuallly metal wire coated with plastic and as i begin to really closely look it over i can see where there is rust on the fake plant

but i suppose if my babies were bigger they would have eaten the dead catfish an loved it

now i am totally making sure my decore is either totally fool proof an my plants are totally meant for aquariums

now the second one i get this sample filter from the guy who runs this company
www.ultimatesponge.com and i notice one day that the air flow from the tube is very much slower so i pull the filter take out the tube and there is one of my african frogs stuck under the air stone very much dead i lost my weather loach an my clown loach in this tank but everyone else survived so i emailed the guy an told him the story an that he should screen the top of the white tube but no response

neither makes me want to give up but it has changed my direction to some degree

i have also decided that i will make sure to set up some tanks that i will only run as a quarentine tank for when i get free fish or when i pick up a tank that comes with fish cause i have found that fish from other peoples tanks sometimes dont take well to new water and i have made it my policy to now take a test from the water in the tank they come from

the total bummer about the fry is some of them were really unusual albino lines

Yeah.......:shakehead:
She loves making up these little pet names that she thinks gets my attention the most, unfortunately for me, they're not all with the best intentions in mind....

I've been called silly monkey, doggy, cupcake and a long with an arsenal of other names that I'm not too fond of, but what do you know? The more I hate them, the more she likes them. I was originally called pink bubble care bear until I accidently brought up rainbows one day and....yeah...

I made up some names for her too but I think it's best that I don't put them up as many of them are pervertic .

My ex called me "pookie bear" from across the store one time and I replied with "I'll be right there slut muffin" and that was the end of the cute names

Wooo
If I did that, I think the ending of cute name calling isn't the only thing that'll be ending that day :nilly:. My gf is especially violent, I'd probably get chased around by a car for awhile...I knew I shouldn't have given her that taser as part of her bday present too :irked:.

(I love these smilies lol!!)
