Friends of a convict :)

Yes, they are raising their fry as we speak, and the exesive nitrates I contribute to the fact that I just fed them, with powdered flake food and it got a little messy. So danios? <aybe long finned? MAYBE GUPPIES?

Just fed food does not turn into nitrates that fast ...

If they're a breeding pair, I wouldn't add anything to the tank either. I would however do a water change pretty quick so the babies aren't choking on nitrates.

Ok, but they theortically livingn in that for about their whole life but will do! Doing it right now.

what about their fry? Will a couple be safe?? Since their related can they live together?

How big is the tank? 29 gallons you are stuck with the breeding pair. A 55 you might get away with Congo Tetras or giant danios but honestly I wouldn't add anything. I've seen my breeding pair tear each other up with just themselves in the tank with fry.

Just because they are fry means nothing. Once the fry get to a certain stage of juvie they will be a target also. Breeding pairs are very territorial and aggressive.

Whats a schooling fish, or at least a good community fish that will go good with convicts. Parameters are all even, ph 7.2 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 40 (is that bad?) Soft Water 75 GH 20 KH I need something because the tank isnt as active as when the convicts moved in.....

so after everybody telling you to go out and get your own liquid test kits. . . you bought a $8 pack of test strips without an ammonia test? that's sort of an important one. how come you can afford to buy more and more fish but you can't afford to make sure they are living in safe conditions?

it would help to know the tank size. . . .

Try a Plecostamus I had one in with my Convicts and the Pleco knew how to keep the Con's away.
