I think my tank is really coming along. I did a little research to try and determine plant size which obviously factors in the placement.
I am not sure if you can see everything clearly. My biggest question right now is where to place the banana plants? I have them in the front right now. i thought that would be good because when they get grown out they would just be like vines for the fish to swim through and easily seen through. However now i am having doubts. This pic is a week old. The banana plants are growing several inches a day. The more i think about it the more i realize that they won't necessarily b block the view of the tank, but will be an obstruction to the view and even more a distraction.

What do you think about the placement of the rest of the plants as well?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i would stick the banana plants on either side of the large driftwood, slightly forward. :)

youre gonna hafta let it grow for a while to get a feel for it, though.

lines are to straight imo

I'd let it grow in a bit to get a feel for how it will be later on. Looks great though. I love the placement of the wood.

Thanks everyone.

I didn't think about that before. I did plant them in rows like a garden or something. I was thinking once they grew out they would fill out more changing the scape. I also have all the middle open to add more medium height plants. i think I am going to take JdR's advice on the banana plants and maybe put some type of grass up front where the bananas currently are.

Just vary some of the spacing and lines and then let it grow for a bit.

Thanks everyone.

One of the best things about having a planted tank is as it grows there is a constantly changing look in the tank. Like most people on here, once I got into planted tanks I am totally OCD about it. I rearrange plants quite a bit.

They'll grown in, you will decide to move/add/remove plants. They will grow a bit more and you will move them around again because it will keep evolving. HAVE FUN!

Agreed... but some plants don't like to move around much. Nice start.

Q

Agreed. I guess saying "replant" vs. "rearrange" might be a better word.

In my opinion, move the driftwood slightly forward, and move the banana plants close to the drift wood. Break the parallel between the long driftwood and the glass and make the banana plant follow the contours of the driftwood in the front and around it.
