Anyone know what kind of spider this is?

It could be either a brown recluse or a wolf spider.

Nope, it's a Brown Widow. Trust me. :)

Brown recluse and wolf spiders are hunting species that don't live in webs.

Vicious_Fish is dead on. One will not find a Brown Recluse in a web on a porch and I believe Wolf spiders are more of a terrain dweller and are much much bigger and are fuzzy.

Petluvr knows first hand. That sucks. The recluse is a carnivorous spider with flesh killing venom, in a way much like a staph aureus infection. The dead muscle must be cut out and the cavity kept clean to make sure not bacterial infection starts in the wound.

Not a brown recluse I had a close personal acount with a recluse that bit my ankle and I darn near lost my foot. Still have a huge black spot on my leg 3 years later. NOT brown recluse.

I've been bitten by brown recluses also - 3 times - when I lived out West. The only thing I remembered is they had really long legs. Same as wolf spiders. I still have scars from where I was bit. I was told I'd need a skin graft, but I dont think the scars are that bad.

I've seen a black widows close up, but not brown widows.

Definitely not a wolf spider... here's a pic of a wolf spider, living by my back door, that I took over the weekend.

Here's another one (that I didn't take) of a momma wolf spider out for a walk with her young 'uns. Kinda cute.
