Too Far from the Ocean
Last weekend i went to my LFS to pick up something new for my tank. my mom decided that she wanted me to get a Bangaii Cardinal fish, so i bought two hoping for a pair. i also both a large rock of green and red Zooanthids and a LRG Bubble Coral. Yesterday i went to my LFS to return an angelfish that was eating my corals and a Bangaii Cardinal that was getting harassed by my other more dominate male Bangaii. After Tearing my tank apart and making it extremely cloudy i went to the LFS to exchange my fish. i ended up getting all $20 back from the Cardinal and only $10 for the Bicolour Angel. i exchanged both fish for a sm/md/ Hawaiian BannerFish. and i also purchased a Sixline wrasse.
Lesson that was learned - Only buy fish you know are 100% acceptable for your tank and you want 100% do not second guese yourself and end up tearing apart your whole system putting everything at risk just to take back a bad fish!!!

Says the person who just put in a sixline wrasse in their tank. Now you have gone from a slow coral picker to a super fast fish bully. Just guessing, but I would say bye-bye to the bangais with a sixline in the tank now. I did have to tear my entire tank down once to get rid of a sixline.. now I hate those fish because of having to do that and seeing just how mean those things can be. They will give a damsel a run for their money.

Though generally peaceful, the Six Line Wrasse may act aggressively towards peaceful Wrasses and other easily-intimidated fish

i only have one cardinal now so i dont have to worry about it as much. the sixlines bullying can't be worse then the angel i just got rid of it chased and bit every fish in my tank but one, my hippo tang!

Well, no one can say how every fish will act so you may get one of the rare peacefull ones, but just from experience, sixlines are much more of a bully than any angel. The fish that are most often returned to the LFS I work at due to problems are the sixline wrasse, most damsels, and coral beauty angel (due to coral picking). Now granted, those are all common fish and are sold more often than others so that does play into why we get more of them returned than others.

i'll have to agree with you on that one but i am wondering how many sixline wrasses have you tried? mybe it was just a bad personality?

Personally, I have only tried one myself, and that was enough to not want to try another because I had to tear the tank down to catch him. But I have sold dozens of them at the store I work at and get back probably 50% of them and the reason is always due to agressiveness towards other tankmates. There are many much more peaceful wrasses to pick from and I chose to go that route, having a african leopard, yellow coris, and cleaner wrasse in my tank. There are many nice flasher and fairy wrasses to choose from as well.

Got some more new fish this weekend as well as a crab. thought i would share a few pics of all of my fish! i just got the copperband this weekend as well as the orchid dottyback and so far am very pleased with both the dottyback is soo vibrant and the butterfly is just fun to watch. ive got him enjoying bananas already as a once in a while snack!
