Can someone please tell me how to work out the volume of a hex tank. The sides of the tank measure 9 1/2" x 19" each.
area of a regular hexagon is (3sqrt(3)/2) * s^2 where s is the length of a side. So, the area of the tank footprint is ~234.5 sq in. Mutiply that buy the height and you get 4455 cu in. 4455 cu in / 231 cu in/gal = 19.2 gallons.
Wow that certainly lost me, Niko's way was much easier.area of a regular hexagon is (3sqrt(3)/2) * s^2 where s is the length of a side. So, the area of the tank footprint is ~234.5 sq in. Mutiply that buy the height and you get 4455 cu in. 4455 cu in / 231 cu in/gal = 19.2 gallons.
