Now I SEE What I Couldn't SEE Before

Been wondering when I was going to see some pygmaeus fry in my 20G breeder tank. It is heavily planted and I know that it could literally be weeks before the fry would even stir from being buried deep at the root of plants. I only gravel vac the very front of the tank, I leave everything else undisturbed. Each plant grows thickly into the next, the taiwan moss is lush on the driftwood. Fishy heaven! I see fertilized eggs, 3 days they disappear, hopefully into the jungle until they feel brave enough to come out. Did a water change tonight. I watch what goes up the python. Saw something....
and Now I SEE what i couldn't SEE before! And that's not a railroad spike, it's a normal straight pin!

Lots of worms in the diet....microworms, shaved FBW, and I have two large white worm cultures. The discus and sids get the larger white worms and the younger small white worms get slurped up by the pygmy cories. All the fish go nuts over the white worms, the discus almost jump out of the tank for them!
Starter cultures are hard to find. I'll have to divide mine at some point, let me know if you want a starter culture. They're easy too!

No more gravel vacs for that tank!

Well it's been a week and it drives me crazy that I can't see any fry in that tank because they are small and they hide. Patience, patience, patience......

I try to watch the python tube for anything that looks like fry since I've seen some fertilized eggs. And this happened to not look like fish poop so I turned the sink water off and emptied the python water into a container. It barely resembles a fish, but it was swimming! I put it back into the tank and it immediately disappeared INTO the gravel, which is 3 to 3" thick. I don't dare move anything in that tank for fear of squashing them.
