Do you prefer Pellets or Flakes? I hate crushing up the flakes because my fishies aren't big enough to eat the entire flakes non-crushed.

I also have Ghost Shrimp, so what one will they eat?

What brands also? Right now I have Tetra Color flakes. I'd like to get pellets for ease of feeding and cleanliness of tank internals/externals, but checking here first.

Pictus Cat & Rainbow Shark

Please don't move to Bottom Dwellers :P This is a general question about all my fishes!

i use pellets with everything....
Hikara MicroPellets for small comm fish
HBH bloodworm+spirulina bottomfeeder pellets
Hikari Cichlid Pellets
Hikari Algae wafers

1. Flakes are disgusting
2. They lose like 70% of their nutrition value within 10 seconds of hitting water
3. Pellets retain the nutrients so much longer
4. Pellets don't cloud the water
5. Pellets don't need to be crushed and can be manipulated to either sink or float

I use both and don't get cloudy water from the use of flakes. If flakes lost that much nutritional value then they must have a ton of it. I have some very healthy (and some Hefty) fish that have not had anything other than flake. I fed tetra min the switched to tetra color as it enhanced the reds and oranges. I have tried Wardleys but felt it was not as quality as the Tetra is.

I feed my cichlids Hikari Gold mini-pellets sinking and the Oscars Hikari Gold Large floating. I feed my Mbuna cichlids both Hikari mini-pellets and Tetra flake (not at the same time).

I find no health/growth differences in the food used nor do I have to do a pwc more with one or the other. I think it all comes down to personal preference more than anything else. At present I have switched to Omega One Tropical Flakes from Tetra and again I find no differences. As far as composition goes the Omega One has little to no fillers like rice and wheat that Tetra uses. Because fish are opportunity eaters there is no obvious difference to me as far as them having a preference The Oscars on the other hand refused to eat the Omega One pellets and would spit it out.uneaten. All fish and inverts get Hikari sinking algae wafers at some point and some frozen BBS.

I Feed My Fish Flakes and for my bottom dwellers this tablet stuff the LFS has given me and they all doing fine so far
I got some pellets from a friend to try and i see no different as the pellets and flakes u can crush if u want and they both sink down eventually

I have, although I don't know if the 70% in ten seconds figure is intended to be accurate. Basically, flakes supposedly break down more quickly in your aquarium(higher surface area).
