That's a good characteristic that it might be a male frog. I've got my fingers crossed.

The reason I hope it's a male is because they get much, much bigger than the females which is weird because in most frog/toad species the females are the bigger sex.

Hey, go big or go home! The males are the most sought after of the two sexes because they get almost twice as big as the females and are usually more colorful. I guess you could compare them to bettas. Most people want the male fish, not the drab females. A large male African Bullfrog is quite the impressive sight!

Here's a pic of one next to a White's Tree Frog just to compare the sizes.
