salt question

has anyone tried or heard of Crystal Sea marine mix salt. my lfs just started carrying it and they say its a quality salt that rates up with reef crystal. Thanks in advance for any info.

From my experience and testing (as well as independent testing) says that is far from the case :).

thank you amphiprion, so then is this more of a lower end salt. there are so many different salts available and they all say they are the best. I have been using instant ocean how does that one really rate. I have noticed sometimes that the corals react a little after a water change. meaning that they jut don't come out as much as other times and other times they do. I try not to add additives to the tank because I have had some bad information in the past and my tank really acted in a negative fashion. maybe I'm just gun shy now.

The only thing I'd recommend is boosting the calcium and alkalinity levels as testing warrants. Otherwise, it works just fine. I tend to alternate between it, Reef Crystals, and Red Sea (not its Coral Pro, but the regular). Whichever is on sale. I always check each new batch for the appropriate levels and boost if necessary.

I have also alternate between Reef crystals and red Sea. It's been working great for 5 years. I usually mix them a week before a water change and let it sit in a heated tank untill water change day

As long as its circulating, covered and at the correct temp, i dont see any reason why anything would change....its just like being in an aquarium but with nothing to pollute the water....
