I finally got this one from my work. It has been there for months. It came in as an electric blue but quickly lost most of its blue. It slowly gained a lot back but also gained some purple. Any ideas on exactly which species it is?

it's very pretty. sorry i can't identify it for you. from the claw markings i could guess some kind of yabbie. mine is red-clawed blue yabbie and has similar markings on the claws but the body looks different. i just wanted to tell you that my lil guy changes color when he molts. i'm not sure if this is normal or not but he goes very blue every other molt and then back to mostly an orangy colour with blue claws. it doesn't seem to effect him, so your dude may turn back blue after his next molt. you could try making his tank a darker colour to help bring the blue out more. he doens't live in that lil thing does he?

That is a specimen container from work. He has his own 20long.

cool. sorry, i wasn't trying to insult you, it's just that the person that gave me my yabbie had her in a teeny little breeder cage thingy that was about 5 gallons and it was rediculously small for her. she has her own 20g now too. good luck with her, she looks sweet

Not yet, the tank flared up with greenwater algae again as soon as she went in.
