well after several days of thinking about it i am going to trade my colony of frontosa off to a friend for a new marineland canister C220 and i am going to focus more on altolamprologus calvus the black variety and some neolamprologus cylindricus as well, good times aye..

Wow, that's a big switch, Pittbull, you sure you want to do that? I know you were kinda up in the air about what to do with the Fronts once the reach full size, is that what brought on the decision?

I've never kept fronts, but I do have calvus and they are a nice fish. I have the inkfins and have had the white ones also. Gorgeous fish. Mine are currently spawning and it's very rewarding. I have almost 40 fry in a home made fry saver and who knows how many more the female is guarding in an egg. I have multies in the tank with them as well as 2 elipsifers - tang eels. I'm getting some enant kilesa soon and some cyps. Since the calvus are rock dwelling, you can really diversify the tank and it makes it very interesting to watch all the levels. good luck with the new altos!

Are you planning on raising the Calvus fry? I'm guessing it would take a year before they're old enough to sell/ trade. Mine average about an inch/ year. I have 1 adult Congo Black female, 1 juvie white female, and 1 juvie yellow male. They grow so slowly I'm kicking myself for not spending the extra money on adults.

I'm going to try to not get them to average sellable size but still get rid of them. I figure in a month or two they should be around half an inch. At that point they can be given away. I have never raised any fry except mouth brooders, and that doesnt count. So it's just a for fun thing, then out the door they go.

Heck yeah, C. Leptosoma, A. Calvus, and N. Cylindricus would make a kick *** Tang display. At that size you could probably get away with a Neolamprologus Sexfasciatus or Tretocephalus. Or some Chalinochromis Brichardi, or some Julies... or maybe I just need a bigger tank!

HAHA! I'm drooling over the thought of that tank. I need a larger tank for some more tangs!!!

 yeah that does sound like a sweet tank, so why the change well my friends i have 5 tanks running right now were i have had friends either giving me or buying some smaller tangs from the fish club i have N. Mustax, i do have 4 small calvus right now in a 20gal their now where near full size by all means but they will down the road, i have julidochromis transcriptus and fry, brichardi's, lelupi's a single N buscheri just the other day i recieved from my buddy 6 tiny julidochromis ornatus fry and 4 baby albino bristolnose plecos and a 3 juvie tretocephalus i am wanting to do just a huge community of tangs in the 120gal minus the fronts because they are getting big now and i was just going to do the five fronts and the brichardi's in the 120gal but i like the look of a community of tangs and all that aggression and i do know i will lose some due to aggression but wow wont that look great, i was going to get a 220gal but i think now i may have to push my fish room back later til next year now, yeah plus i am getting a marineland C220 canister as well for them and it isnt that old of a filter but i am starting to really like the calvus look aye, take care my friends..

afro cyps would def look great in a that 120gal one of my friends that lives in another county is breeding them and he said he would hook me up but i dont know how long it will take for them to attain some size first, never had them before i was just going to go with rainbowfish but cyps sound better aye..

oh forgot just some more of my disorder on tangs right now so i am driving to bluegrass this friday he is about 45 mins away from me and i am getting 6 N. Melaegris shellies also friday is when i trade the fronts to another buddy of mine for the canister filter and some calvus i wil def buy 3 cylindricus from him as i can not find them here besides him and he is only 5 mins away from me,
