I am in the process of designing a tank. I think the dimensions will be 3'wX8'LX2'Tall. Does anyone know how to calculate how many gallons would that be. Or should I go 2 and 1/2' tall? It will hopefully be for 2 oscars, 1 or 2 Jack Dempsy's, some severum (not sure how many I should do), a knife and a few rays. What do you guys think, will this be big enough? I hope so because really I could only add length and still be able to get it in the house, lol. Then the length also determines where it will have to be set up, and which way it will enter the house. How much of what filtration do ya'll suggest? I really wanted a super deep tank, but it just wont fit if I am to also get the kind of lateral space that rays like to have. Any suggestions or ideas you have will be awesome. Also would like to hear good substrate ideas, I will probably not put any decor in the tank so the rays have as much free room as possible, what do you think? thank you in advance:hearts::hearts::hearts:You all rock, i am so happy to be on ac!!!!

Thank you sooooo much. :o:o:o:o:o:o:oGuess I should have looked around more. We have actually decided to go with a 12'LX3'WX2'6"T. We are getting a stock tank instead. It will be a lot cheaper and I am not concerned with asthetics as much as happy critters. This way I will be able to spring for the best filtration and equiptment. I am super excited!!! I am placing my order Monday!!! So any other suggestions on fish or anything? Right now I have just a baby tiger oscar and JD waiting for It.

:rofl:By the way I am a chick.:eek::evil_lol:

oooo! I am sooooo excited and soooo indecisive. I am seriously considering rays (polka dots, I think). I have been researching the knife fish, I dont know if they will fit in so well, but if I do it will probly be a clown knife. I havent even got this tank yet and I already have Ideas for my next. I think the next will deffinately be a tall, maybe angels and a ghost knife. So I dont know if i will be bold enough to try the clown with the JDs. Have any of you had success with a JD and clown knife? what about JDs and rays? agin ya'll rock I love talkin fish and checkin out every ones pics. I will certainly take a lot of pics as this project unfolds!!! I have done a lot of concidering over about 2 months or so to finally conclude on the actual tank so I wouldnt hold your breath over it being totally set up, but i will post pics of everything from the empty space in the room-to each new critter i add.
