And I second all that....I think the general chit-chat and games are a good thing, even if I don't participate in them that often. To me, forums are about making friends too.
But I have learned a LOT about fish and inverts from this forum. My questions are always answered. This group is invaluable!I, for one, appreciate every person who replies to my questions. Even if there answer is "I don't know". It tells me that people are reading my posted, cared enough to respond, and an "I don't know" makes me feel less stupid- like it is a decent question. I think multiple opinions are useful- regardless of how "correct" they are because one person's version of "correct" isn't always the case. I love the one word "I agree" because it tells me that I am not just relying on that 1 person's response but all the other people that agree with them.
Now that is what many of us are trying to explain,sometimes you need more responds to feel something is right,it's like saying are vanilla icecream tasty with hershey?One respond isn't gonna help.:clap:End of thread let's go make chocolate icecream.

but in all seriousness, I do agree, sometimes I've thrown a question out there, gets one answer, and no agrees or disagrees with it. Makes me feel like I'm just going off one person experience.
The diversity is actually one of the great things about the site. I can choose which topics i will browse that day, be it plants/equipment/photos or whatever. I tend to steer clear of GCC since... well there arnt that many interesting threads there. In GCC is where many of these cliques form and many times the posts tend to be some inside jokes or a 1-1 conversation and once i come across that i just tend to skip it (even if it somewhere contained a question/request for advice)
Though the threads have their ups and downs. One day one section of the forum seems dead, the next its flooded by posts. Just have to keep yourself busy during the low period. Shoot go to yahoo answers lol (plz dont) and post there (plz dont), it can surely kill some time...
Ive been doing that lately. But mostly because the first post already answered w/e the question was and well im 2 lazy to post "i agree" or "yes". I actually made a thread about this a while back where many people dont pay attention to previous posts and just go directly to throwing their 2 cents, even though their 2 cents is word for word exactly what was stated above them.. Thats how things will always be. But thats why theres the scroll on the mouse.. use it and abuse it
hey now, ive got a near 50% best answer record in the fish section there!
I've also seen several people giving good advice and referencing AC as the source of their info... which makes me happy.
Agreement posts can be informative. They don't have to just be "I agree with this person". It could be "I agree with this person because I've read books that said the same thing" or "I agree with this person because of personal experience where I did the same thing 3 years ago" There is a big difference in agreement to gain post count and agreement to give the OP reassurance.
