AC'S Oscar Club..........

Here is my 11" oscar. I have had him since March of 2007. He lives in a 120g (4 x 2 x 2) with two 5" silver dollars and a 8" "vanilla" pleco. The aquarium has two AC110 HOB filters and one Fluval 305 canister filter. Some people consider a 55g big enough. Truthfully, I cannot even consider less than what I have. With a two foot depth, he is already half that length.

Currently there are two 2" Firemouths that I dropped in there to see if "Willie" would eat them or accept them. He accepted them, and much to my chagrin, one firemouth is staking out the tank as his! Suddenly, the SDs are the outsiders! I think I will be moving them soon.

I am considering one of the following:

1. Add three more SDs to make a complete shoal.

2. Add another oscar...preferrably white/red. Since he accepted the FMs, I wondered if he would accept another oscar.

3. Add a Jack Dempsey (currently 2" living in a 40g)

Which would you do?

I went to edit the above post, and I guess here we have only 30 minutes to change it. I took some better pictures. Willie decided to pose finally.

Nice , very nice! I wouldn't add another Oscar nor JD due to aggression problems. I think the SD would be the safest bet.

No, a 55 is too small for an Oscar. You want to put a 15" fish in a 13" tank? That's cruel. Glad you have larger tanks also. I have 1 Oscar, 1 Pink con and 1 - 10" common plec in a 90. I have 1 Oscar, 1 - 5" SD, 1 - 4" plec, and too many zebra cons in a 100. Luckily almost all of the Cons will be leaving soon.

very nice oscar, ranvan! i like his colouring! IMO 55gal is too small for an O...my O is in a 110gal, soon to be moved to another 200gal with another O for company.
