New to Marine. Few questions

Nice looking setup, what kind of critters you looking to get?

No idea yet. I only plan on having 2-3 fish since it's only 50 gallons and all that rock will displace a lot of my water anyway. I would like to mostly focus on corals and a few reef friendly inverts.

I will probably start off with some of the hardier fish. I've heard clowns and damsels are hardy and good to start with.

I would like a tang but heard that they grow huge. I haven't really looking into fish to be honest. More worried about figuring out the basics of SW and LR and corals.

WHy do you have all your rock stacked in the corner? Is that just temporary?

Yes, it is temporary. I just got the rock in the past few days and just getting a feel for how I plan on aquascaping. That is only about 1/3 of the rock that I plan on getting.

Can anyone ID the yellow "spongey ball"? There are several feathery critters as well. Are they all aiptasia? I've tried searching but there are just SO many inverts, corals, and what not out there.

The only bad thing I see is that aiptasia at the top of the rocks in that one picture.. something everyone deals with though.

As far as feathery things and spongey ball things, they are probably exactly that, Featherdusters and sponges, both are good to have in the tank and are filter feeders helping to clean the water. The small featherdusters that come on live rock usually have a 1/4"-1/2" tube and a feather thing coming out the end of the tube. They are actually worms with a feather thing on their head to collect stuff in the water.. sponges come in all shapes, colors, and sizes, but that ball sponge you have is one of the most common ones I see in an aquarium. Good to have.. no worries.

Thank you for the information. I have searched here, google, and wikipedia and I don't understand how to tell what is aiptasia and what is a featherduster. They have have tubes with feathery ends.. I have about 6-8 things that look like that.
