ok if i kick out my goldies in the 10 gallon and i change the substrate to sand will i be able to do a triop tank????? and also i found a place selling Triops cancriformis stating that they reach 4.5 inches. is this legit? if so i want to buy them, and one more thing. is there a comercial fish food i can feed them?

I had those triops kit many times. I always had to use bottled water. And when I threw in some adult triops into my FW aquariums I never saw them again.. Likely died than eaten seeing there was not any big fish who could eat them whole.

I am unsure of any other species and if they are able to live in tap water though.

I've had a few species, there was always a warning in the "care facts" sheets that said tap water would kill triops. I think it applies to all species... wonder what's in the tap water that's harmful to them though, hmm.

Oh, and Austin, 4.5" is obtainable in that species but not commonly seen. Usually 2.5-3" is what you'll end up with. And I'm not sure about this particular species for food, but some of the others I had ate the same kind of pellets I feed my crayfish. I would think the same would apply for these, too. Don't know though, maybe someone else will.

Chlorine for starters.... ;)

Chlorine is in bottled water, too. Residual from the cleaning process, though it is not used by all bottlers.

Wonder if they'd do fine in tap water with a chelation agent added or if they'd need softer water than most taps can give.
