Wisteria with broad leaves

I bought a single, small stem of wisteria about a month ago hoping it would grow taller. So far it's stayed low to the ground and has been growing longer, broader leaves then what I have normally seen from this plant. It's under 2 wpg, with DIY Co2 and EI fert dosing. Any ideas on why this may be happening?
 
Congratulations, you've just found out why it's called H. difformis. The leaves grown while emerged are round, with jagged edges. Unfortunately the stem and leaves in the emerged version become toxic. You might want to grow it out in an unstocked tank for a while; the poison apparently dissipates. I can't say I'm able to drag up any good sources quickly, but at least its a direction for you to look in. It's also something to watch for when buying, and avoid. Are the new leaves the same round shape? If they are, then it may be a species mislable. Have any pics?

uhhh, what the heck? they do not have toxic leaves at any time. I know because I had a plant that was emerged and then grew it submerged.
 
they grow rounder leaves when exposed to lower light levels. *jeez* i have TONS of this stuff. when it doesnt get a lot of light, it grows more slowly and its leaves stay rounded. if you take it and toss it in a bucket and leave it outside (in the summer) it will grow lovely pinnate (lacy looking) leaves. you may want to bump up your wattage, especially with co2. under 2 wpg, you really dont need it

:thm:Even in the same tank, the leaves can differ according to the lighting received. In shady place the leaves will be rounder and broader while the leaves that received direct light will be thinner and lacyl
 
hmmm...odd because I had tons of stuff under the same light and the leaves grew normally...only changes are that I added Co2 and ferts.

And it was NEVER grown emerged. Trust me, I know the tank it came from at my LFS.
