Does anyone keep the shells of their dead snails?

Is it bad that I have a huge pile of them? Makes good hermit crab homes

..... it's not really that gross....i've done much yuckier things.

Ughh, please don't list any of them.

I should really throw them out, I suppose. They're just sentimental. Very sweet creatures and it's real sad when a favorite snail doesn't survive.

dead snails can easily be cleaned, you set up a saltwater tank with a whole buttload of nassarius snails. 24 hrs and it's magically cleaned with no smell

wow, similar case here-- i recently obtained two black mystery snails that were quite old, and had been through a lot, and put them in my tank. they were doing great (one even mated with my gold snail). i just came home from a week-long cruise only to find the empty shells of the two battered snails, and my 7 ghost shrimp all doubled in size...

Does anyone reckon large adult apple snail shells would be big enough for shell-dwelling dwarf cichlids to use as a cave?

Yep, I have cana shells for some of my multies, and large brig shells would be bigger than the Whale Eyes that I use for others...

cool thread i might keep my snail's shell when it dies!!!! btw i like the shell dweller idea!!!!!
