Hi i have been maintaining a freshwater and a saltwater tank for just about 4 years now. But since i am in high school now, the work load increased dramaically and i found less time taking care of both my tanks. After some thought, i decided on selling my freshwater tank. I am only a freshman, so if i think the work is hard, imagine when im a senior.... Dont get me wrong, all of my fish are healthy and alive. I just ended up working late, changing the water and trimming the plants. I just wanted to thank everyone for helping me the advice for a full four years. I will continue with my saltwater tank, and continue using this site. However, i think i will only b able to continue my marine tank for another four years because of college. Again thankyou to everyone in this forum. :D

Too bad! I understand where you're coming from though, and it's probably a good thing to stick with one tank if you no longer have the time to devote to both tanks.

As for your SW tank... IMO it is possible for you to move it to and from college (carefully!), especially once you move out of the dorm, get your own place, and maybe aren't moving to and from home every year, lol. You'll just have to keep a close eye on perams. ;)

Wow, I'm a freshman too, but I can't imagine selling one of my tanks, even with all the work I have to do. That's not including my new job at a LFS. Good luck!

Figures why I am an average student... even till now in college :S.

DARN YOU FISH DARN YOUUUUUU!

I go to college and Like a lot of people have said here, water changes is the hardest thing to do. But it would be a good study break on the weekends....I usually take an hour to change the water on Sundays. I would keep the tank because you are going to want to start it back up and its way better to just have a tank set up rather than starting one over again

haha thanks guys :). but yea... the water changes..... i dont think i can keep up with it. i think i should keep the actual tank so that i can set it up again an a couple more years. :) but i dont want fish to die because of the lack of water changes... and plus there is already some unsightly algea growing on my tank glass.... ewwwwww... haha so i thinlk its better to just sell everything in the tank. I have a sw reef tank so i will have my hands full with that. hehe i wonder what im gonna do in college.........

college = a dorm pico lol

I plan on setting up a fw and sw 3 gallon jbj picotope.

fw= low light plants, red cherry shrimp, endlers

sw= zoas, mushrooms, ricordea, sexy shrimp, neon blue goby
