going to be picking up an Aqueon 40 gallon breeder tank for under my 65 salt. probably next week.
this one will be a planted tank. - I miss plants..
it won't have black silicone though - not really worth paying the extra this time around since it will be a "bottom tank"..
the canadian domestic tank maker here in the GTA- Miracles Aquariums- (makes great tanks) does make tanks with black silicone, but their 40 breeder is only 15 inches tall and it has a big plastic cross brace - great for cutting out light? LOL
the Aqueon version is basically 17 inches tall (the company website says 16 and 15/16ths (!! LOL) of an inch tall) and has NO BRACE - its built 'old style' which I am thinking is better for plants....
Very Nice Volt! *ahem* How look till we get to see some Severums? :grinyes:
Love this thread, but as to the topic of braces on your 40 gal. If have your lights on legs or suspended, the black plastic brace which I assume is 2" at most wont cause an issue with growing anything under it. Light from a tube will radiate out in all directions and still illuminate whats under the brace.
this is true. I was more thinking of the 2 extra inches of height on the aqueon tank..every little bit helps when you only have room for a few tanks..
I may still end up going with the braced tank, since it is built with black silicone - my favorite as anyone who has been following this thread knows![]()
