Tropheus moorii, suitable for a 55gal?

Pittbull is correct.

Bloat can happen in pretty any african cichlid tank...just make sure you aren't overfeeding the protein. I would also suggest spirulina flakes as a staple with vegetables as well...bloodworms, brine shrimp, etc. mixed in occasionally.

I really disagree with putting in as many rocks as you want and I think most other keepers will also. The reason for no rocks, one rock pile, and two rock piles is to keep males in check. Having as many rocks as you want creates one big rock pile and no boundaries for males.

I prefer the two pile method. I have an alpha male who controls one pile and a beta male who controls the other pile on the otehr side of the tank, and a third male that controls nothing. With as many rocks as you want the alpha male will not have any boundary of his territory and will defend it against all other males creating a continuous fight across the entire tank.

I also agree a 75 is the minimum for these fish.
 
Hey roger whats up buddy man i bet you love to debate stuff hehehe i do as well so yeah i have seen tropheus with all rock setups and i have seen tropheus sand setups, i have seen tropheus sand with two large rocks on one side of the tank setup and i have seen tropheus with sand and a rock pile to a side of the tank setup its all good and i do understand what you are saying about boundries and pecking orders..

I was just stating i love rock setups with a lot of rocks it doesn't have to be but i love rock setups.. hehehe later buddy..

I prefer the 2 pile method, also. That's actually the type of setup in my 55gal tank.

Not trying to single anyone out, and I have my tang community 75 rocked up, but not for tropheus. I don't think there should be a debate about it either as I have yet to see a tropheus tank with a rock wall that has worked for long term. When I say long term I mean 2+ years so fish are of breeding age. Before that, there are a lot of types that work, but beyond that, rock walls spell disaster.
 
Every where i have looked at on the internet i see rocked photos of tropheus setups but again i see where you are coming from but its usually the owners choice as to what they want.. and i have seen photos of what your saying as well with the open space..

As for me i love the look of rock..
